Trey Caldwell (Nathan Gamble from A Dolphin's Tale) is looking forward to finishing his make-shift race car when his father returns from Afghanistan. But when the most devastating news arrives, that his father has died in the field, he finds that it's not just his race car that's missing pieces but also his heart. Trey struggles to come to terms with his loss, and the race car becomes a constant reminder of his broken and hopeless future.
Roy Gibbs discovers the downhearted young man and sees an opportunity. He too is struggling to overcome loss after his heroic firefighting son gave his life in 9/11. As their relationship grows, so does their spirits as they work towards entering the up-and-coming Soap Box Derby. Through the unforgettable experience, both Trey and Rob find the courage to move forward beyond their loss and step into the exciting adventure of faith.
Corbin Bernsen wrote, directed and acted in the film, playing the bereaved father Roy Gibbs. The heartwarming film also features music by two Grammy Award-Winning Christian acts: Third Day and Brandon Heath. 'Heart of a Hero' also stars:
