Their last album, ‘Awakening’, saw the band move away from the conventional, repetitive and over-done sound we’ve all come to expect from a Hillsong album. MUSICALLY – it’s wonderful to hear them being so creative, unafraid of bending the barriers and pushing the boundaries. With dancey electro synth, swelling guitar riffs, some incredible drumming, moments of atmospheric calm and wild musical abandonment the feel of this album never rests on one sound
LYRICALLY – to sum up the albums theme in one word: Grace. The theme of God’s grace keeps piercing through with some rich and deep thoughts flowing through, like Jesus’ death being a ‘scandal of grace’.
SPIRITUALLY – Joel Houston uploaded the artistic trailer on Boxing Day 2012. He revealed, “the whole point of this album is the realisation that God is doing His thing, and He has already done it, He is establishing His Church, and it's through us.”
