This fresh, up-to-date volume shows how Biblical Studies has changed during the last quarter century with moves towards final form, intertextuality, and emphasis on the reader—to name but a few current trends. The range of texts under discussion has also increased to include much more emphasis on the Dead Sea Scrolls and increased focus on post-biblical Jewish and Christian literature.

The volume includes introductory overviews of key issues in modern biblical interpretation—such as inner-biblical interpretation, the re-writing of biblical narratives in the late Second Temple period, and attention to early Jewish commentary—in-depth commentary on each book, maps, and up-to-date bibliographies.
