About the Author Dottie was raised on the mission field in Mexico, living in Nogales, AZ and helping her parents care for the people in Nogales, Mexico. Dottie knew she was called to do God's work when she was 8 years old. Being young and foolish, she ran from her call. Marriage (to the wonderful Jim Frank), children (Sara, Natalie and Andrew) and social work (earning her MSW and CISW) kept her busy for fifteen years. Then, in Mazatlan, Mexico, Dottie experienced a "recall" event and, this time, went straight to seminary! Dottie's first pastoral appointment was at Liberty United Methodist Church in Buckeye, AZ. The people of Buckeye loved me into being a pastor. Her next appointment was at Mission Bell United Methodist Church in Glendale, Arizona. She served at Mission Bell for 5 ½ years, working towards the revitalization of their mission. She is an elder of the Desert Southwest Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. Today, Dottie serves as pastor at Crossroads United Methodist Church in Phoenix, Arizona. Prior to this appointment she served as one of the pastors at Community Church of Joy in Glendale, Arizona, directing the worship team. She speaks frequently at worship conferences and serves as a trainer for starting new congregations. She is also the author of Advent and Christmas, in the Igniting Worship Series, published by Abingdon Press. In her other life, Dottie loves getting teased by her children and spending time with Jim and her kids. She is an avid reader, likes horseback riding and vacationing in Mexico. She dislikes shopping, talking on the phone and being told "no".
