You're Still God is the first studio recording from worship leader Godfrey Birtill. Godfrey is prayer minstrel and prayer warrior rolled into one and as such likes his worship both shaken and stirred.

From the outset you know You're Still God is going to be something of a special event. With cover artwork that would not look out of place on a Led Zep recording, You're Still God opens up with a salvo that is Lift Up Your Heads. If The Clash ever wrote and recorded a worship song, Lift Up Your Heads would be that song. Next up is God So Loved The World and there's more than a hint of Joe Strummer to this piano driven song of salvation. When I Look At The Blood is a more gentle reflection of God's love and like many songs on You're Still God gives testimony to the influence Noel Richards continues to have on Christian music.

To date There's A Lot Of Pain (Outrageous Grace) is probably Godfrey's most recognised tune, and here producer John Hartley gives the arrangement a fresh, U2ish feel. Bless The Lord revolves around a mighty bass and drum groove that might also have come from the pen of Ireland's finest. Title track You're Still God is a stadium rock song in the making. There's a sense of desperation to Godfrey's vocal as he cries out Where oh where's Your presence Lord?

This is a ground breaking album, full of provocative, heartfelt lyrics. From Purify My Imagination with it's gospel style chorus, through the McCartneyesque After I've Done Everything to the closing track the gentle Looking For Your Presence, Godfrey challenges the listener in their thinking. Never mundane, always meaningful You're Still God roots out spiritual mediocrity and nurtures a renewed passion. This is worship with a cutting edge!
