This edition is a completely new translation derived from the new Spanish edition of the Institutes of the Christian Religion (III, vi x, Libros Desaf o, 2011). On the Christian Life opens a window onto a spirituality that keeps our eyes firmly fixed on Jesus while our feet remain planted on the ground, a spirituality that contrasts with those emphasizing meditation, mysticism and earthly escapism. The Lord has placed us where we must be until He calls us again, Calvin tells us. This work exercised a strong influence over the past 500 years in the English-speaking world and especially in the Netherlands. However, in the Spanish-speaking world its influence has been minimal. We pray, therefore, that our Almighty God may use this brief work to refresh minds, encourage the Christian vocation of believers and reach unbelievers with His grace.
