This work seeks to describe the relationship between Protestant social thought and the processes of theorizing about development in the continent, a subject that has not received sufficient attention in recent literature. It evaluates Protestant social thought not only by understanding its own historical development, but also as a product of, and in contrast with, broader reflections on social and economic change and transformation, as seen in continental academic and political debate. Very few people possess the qualifications to write on the subject of this book as its author does. He combines his own experience as an active participant in the articulation and implementation of a contextual Latin American theology rooted in evangelicalism and oriented toward social transformation with the discipline of a scholar who spares no effort in pursuing the greatest possible objectivity in his research. I am pleased to recommend this work as one of the most outstanding works of evangelical literature produced in our continent to date.
