Jesus taught in Luke 6:44 that a tree is known by its fruit. As Christians, we should be known by the godly character we display. Paul described this kind of character in Galatians as the fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. But these qualities are not something we can muster up or produce on our own. Christlikeness is not dependent on us working harder. Instead, the Holy Spirit cultivates these attributes in us as we abide in Jesus.

In this 10-session Bible study for women, Tara Dew will walk you through Scripture, examining what each aspect of this spiritual fruit looks like in the life of a believer. You’ll learn that the fruit you bear will be in proportion to the depth of your relationship with Jesus, and that the fruit of the Spirit that’s produced in you is for God’s glory and purpose, not your own. You’ll see how your relationships with others can flourish as the fruit of the Spirit helps you cultivate more loving, patient, and selfless connections. As you answer the call to abundant living through abiding in Jesus, the Spirit will yield in you a harvest of Christlike character that will have eternal significance for you and the kingdom of God.
